Third Joint Economic Commission for the North West

The Joint Economic Commission for the North West agreed the following key actions:

JEC to consider further how to encourage local authorities to ensure that their main contractors make prompt payments to their supply chain.

Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to report back to the next meeting with an analysis on the impact of bank lending / credit in the region.

Government Office for the North West to provide the Regional Minister with a paper setting out some of the planning issues / barriers.

Homes and Communities Agency to report at the next meeting on the progress with the 20 housing priority sites.

Jobcentre Plus to provide the JEC with more detail on the link between supporting businesses and providing help to individuals.

NWDA to provide a more detailed update on longer-term projects.
-
NW Regional Skills and Employment Board to provide a report on the skills needed for the upturn.

Government Office for the North West to consider the impact on wider communities and report back.
