Seventh Joint Economic Commission for the North West

The Joint Economic Commission for the North West agreed a number of actions at its seventh meeting:

  •  NW Universities Association to send briefing on the North West's existing university capabilities in Digital technologies, and plans to continue developing this.
  • JEC Secretariat (NWDA/ GONW) to lead on a note that summarised what each JEC partner could do to progress the digital agenda and maximise regional economic development opportunities.
  • JEC members were asked to keep GONW informed on how they are meeting their commitment to the Prompt Payment Code.
  • JEC to determine whether the Trade Union Congress/Federation of Small Businesses Short Time Working Subsidies proposals rejected nationally could be implemented at a regional level.
  • JEC to discuss the 4NW report commissioned to examine impact of high-speed rail proposals  in February.

The next meeting will focus on the Green Economy.
